The Rift: Ashes, loot and Rebirth

In the Rift, your hero fights creatures of the depths. They advance automatically while strong enough, then keep fighting at the reached floor to gather Ashes.

Does the Rift progress while I am away?

Yes, within your marching reserve. It covers eight hours initially and can be expanded. Loot also has a capacity, so return to collect it and strengthen your hero.

Begin a descent

  1. Open the Rift and start your hero’s first descent.
  2. Let your hero advance automatically through floors where victory is certain. They keep fighting at a floor once further progress becomes too difficult.
  3. Spend Ashes on damage, vitality, speed or fortune upgrades to improve your progress.
  4. When you reach an obstacle, check the displayed chances before manually challenging the next floor.

Collect your rewards

Ashes pay for Rift upgrades. They are separate from the wood, stone and wheat you obtain by collecting loot.

Deeper floors offer better rewards, but your loot gauge eventually fills. Collect it regularly. The Rift does not award Gold.

Optional Gold upgrades can expand reserves or strengthen your hero. Read their effects and prices before buying.

Rebirth of the Ember

From floor 40, you can undergo Rebirth. You return to floor 1 and lose your Ashes and the upgrades bought with them. In exchange, Eternal Embers permanently strengthen future descents.

Gold purchases, your record, chests and loot are preserved. There is a six-hour wait between Rebirths. Review the summary before confirming.

Weekly conquest chests

Conquest milestones renew every Monday, Paris time. Progress requires a descent started during the current week: your first visit, or a Rebirth if you already play.

Continuing an older descent after Monday does not count. Once the new descent has begun, reach the listed milestones and claim chests in order. Another Rebirth does not erase the best floor already reached for that week.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to choose between expeditions and the Rift?

They are complementary hero activities. Expeditions raise your hero’s level; the Rift has its own Ashes, upgrades and Embers.

My hero stopped advancing. Is something wrong?

They may have reached a floor that is too difficult, or used up the offline reserve. Return, improve their abilities and check the next challenge’s chances.
