Troops
Recruit soldiers to raid your neighbors, defend your village and found new fiefs.
What do I recruit first?
Guards ⚔️. They're available from Barracks level 1, cost almost nothing (3000 wood + 1000 stone) and get the job done while you're starting out. You unlock stronger units by leveling up your Barracks. Always keep a solid mass of troops at home to defend: an empty village gets raided.
How it works
- 🏰Each unit requires a minimum Barracks level. The higher the Barracks, the faster recruitment goes.
- 🪵Troops cost wood, stone and sometimes wheat. Never Gold.
- ⏳Recruitment goes through a queue (5 batches max). Cost and duration are locked in when you start.
- ⚔️One army goes out to attack; the one that stays defends automatically, even while you're offline.
- 🐂A unit's cargo decides how much loot it brings back. Anything over the limit stays behind.

The roles to know
Speed & propulsion
Each troop has its own speed (the higher the number, the faster it travels). An army moves at the speed of its slowest troop. Three propulsion researches at the Academy permanently speed up your units — each one covers a family of troops. There's no more "March" talent: speed now comes from these researches.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my army moving so slowly?
An army travels at the speed of its slowest troop. If you slip a Titan (very slow) or a Royal Mage into the batch, everyone lags behind. Separate your slow units from your fast units for lightning raids. To go faster for good, level up the propulsion researches at the Academy (Paved Roads, Royal Studs, Travel Arcana). And for a one-off strike, push the speed slider toward 100% when you send (it costs more wheat).
Why is my attack refused even though I have the army?
Every movement (attack, reinforcement, transport, colonization, recycling, Host, incursion) burns wheat 🌾 as fuel. The amount depends on distance, your troops and the speed slider. If there isn't enough wheat in the departing village, the order is blocked: produce or ship in wheat before trying again.
I won the battle but brought back almost nothing, why?
Loot is capped by the total cargo of your survivors. If you send few units, or low-cargo units, you leave resources behind even while crushing the enemy. Add Caravans 🐂 or high-cargo units to haul it all back.
How do I recruit faster?
Level up your Barracks. The higher its level, the faster each unit comes out. The Barracks level also unlocks the most powerful troops (the Titan requires Barracks 10).
Does the Caravan fight?
No. Its only strength is its large carrying capacity (30000). Sent alone against a defended enemy, it gets destroyed. Use it as an escort for a real army to bring back the loot.
